Synopsis:
Island Medics will capture the heart of Shetland’s emergency service, centred around the UK’s most remote hospital the series will follow the emergency services responsible for delivery services to Shetlands fifteen inhabited Islands and surrounding waters.
At the Gilbert Bain in Lerwick, a team of doctors and nurses work alongside GPs, paramedics, coastguard, lifeboat crews, police and the fire and rescue service to provide emergency and medical care to the islands’ 23,000 residents. They also deal with thousands of oil & gas workers, fishermen and tourists 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
